This is SO NOT FAIR!!!

I lost my Casper tonight.......the vet isn't sure what happened, and wants to do an autopsy in the morning. He was more than the family kitty, as he was my service animal for my Clinical Depression.  Sprout, his sister and also a service kitty, is doing just fine still, and there seems to be no transmitting of whatever Casper fell victim too. Thank You Creator for that! Oh, man, my head hurts.....maybe I will try to lay down for a while........

Let's spin the wheel of "What will kock you off your day today"

I am amazed how out of shape I feel after 4 days of not working out....I think it may be time to rejoin the weight room at the community center. Not sure if it is the 4 days of no working out, or the rain, or the PMS, or a combination of all of the above.......the stress over Casper (my service cat) the last two days probably hasn't helped either! He stole a corn cob on Friday night, and hasn't been the same since. We took him to the vet yesterday. They gave him Saline...

Being too busy

I have been rather busy trying to stay on task.....I am having to tweak some of the things that I want to do so that I will be more willing to do them. I want to track my intakes, but keeping the journal in book-form is proving unsuccessful. Leaving it on the table open is too much room consuming. So, I have decided to go with a clipboard by the fridge, that I can pick up, fill out, and put back. The end of each day will get logged into the journal! I can track my water on it too. My...

Distracted!! I can't wait for school to start

I cannot wait for the regular routine of school to come back! But I have to wait until early September for that..... My son starts on Sept 2, I start on Sept (different district), and my hubby starts on Sept 27th (college).....But then there will be a routine again! The weather has been hot and then mild and then hot again! Makes it hard to be consistant of when to work out. I like working out in the mornings, but sometimes can't get to it until afternoons.....I am not running in 90 degree weather. NOPE! And evenings are too late, as...

Started Week 3 of C25K

This morning, I started Week 3. I forgot what the intervals were, so I made up my own.....when I came home and compared what I did to the program, I stepped it up a bit more than the plan, but not so much to make it week 4.....AND I FOUND OUT THAT I CAN JOG FOR 5 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!! Holy crappy....I DID IT!

Busy, busy, busy....

Lots going on......What A Joy!!! We have had extreme heat the last couple of days, and will be lasting a week more.......Training in the afternoon is not an option as I tend to be suseptible to heat exhaustion. I don't dare risk it.... Trying to get up in the mornings to do will work, if I can get my foggy brain to focus....so, here is my attempt today. I am getting ready for my "Couch to 5K" training this morning. I am working on the last day of Week 2. And Week 3 is supposed to start tomorrow! Later today, in my...

I didn't practice my own advice....

Grrr.... I have been collecting nutrition info from restaurants that I go to so I can plan ahead and not even look at the menus. Yesterday, my mom took me out for lunch, and we stopped at Arby's. I didn't plan ahead, but the Pecan Chicken Sandwich looked healthy....and I "slurged" with a small order of curly fries. BEWARE: THE ARBY'S Pecan Chicken is 860 CALORIES, 44g FAT, 76g CARBS          SUBWAY Orchard Chicken (6in) is 340 CALORIES, 7g FAT,  47g CARBS I can't believe that I blew an entire day's worth of Calories on ONE MEAL!  I have been reminded of my own...

Ugh......

I am feeling fat today....not sure why. So, here it is to Oatmeal and oranges for breakfast. I think I will get my water pill in today too.... Yesterday morning, I did my C-to-5K training, and last night I went for a 2 mile walk. I slept okay, not great.....I am holding out hole for a good day

Couch 2 K5 W2D3

I am feeling GREAT!!! Success for today! And it felt easy! I am definitely feeling the eagerness to move forward, and the confidence is building! Oh, and I was putting some numbers together to evaluate how far I have really come.....drum roll...... On October 8th, 2007, I was diagnosed with Diabetes T2. At that time, I weighed in at 328 pounds. I lost a bunch of weight and put half of it back on after I lost my baby in 2009. This past March, I decided that I needed to start taking care of myself again. My 2nd attempt at losing weight...

Makes me wanna cry

I am so into the game..... Last night, I got new shoes for my training.....Oh my, how new shoes make a difference. I was able to get my C25K training done with little aching. I completed Week 2 Day 1, and ready for more....but I have to take it nice and easy, and not push too hard! I am definitely feeling the confidence build! I cried on the track, totally out of disbelief that I DID IT!!

BOOYAH!!! BABY!!!! Ooooooh, Snoopy

I am Snoopy Dancin' ALL DAY!!!!! And, I deserve it!!! Mondays are my weigh in and measurements..... I LOST 7 pounds last week, and I broke through my mini-goal by 2 POUNDS!! New mini goal of 250 pounds!! But first, my hubby and I did our measurements.....inches have been banished from both of our bodies! And not half inches, but like 2 inches of my hips...bye, bye, not so sad to see them go LOL. So, then I got brave with my new found joyous explosion, I opened the closet and pulled out some jeans that have been patiently...

SNOOPY DANCE!!! I DID IT!!

Couch to 5K Week 1 Day 5 is complete. And just to test myself and kick up my confidence, I took the last 60 seconds and kicked to 90 seconds. I MADE IT with out stopping. I am so gearing up for my Diabetes 5K in October...

Missed a beat...will need to double time

Didn't get to my 5K training last night, but I will make it up this morning. I didn't sleep well the night before and energy level yesterday was non-existant. I was hoping to greet a nap, but even that remained elusive....so, today is make-up day. Last night, I slept better. A light drizzle has moved in and it smells soooo good. Here in Western Washington, it is really weird for us to go soo long with out some falling moisture, and I am gonna soak it up before it is gone!

Couch 2 K5

Last night I completed Week 1 Day 4......Tonight more interval training!!  I waited a little longer than usual last night before leaving. I wanted to see how waiting until cooler weather would feel different. I think it would have helped other than I was "end of day worn out" tired, so ultimately I didn't feel an improvement. I think walking, even when still warm out, is better than fighting my body when it wants to shut down for the night. A lesson learned!! I am getting even more excited to my 5K in October for Diabetes. I am hoping that my...

Mystery Message

For 3 days now, I have had a Hawk screaming at me....flying in circles, landing in a tree near by, allowing me to get ahead of her and then she catches up with me again still screaming at me.......mind you screaming is not in the usual context of screaming as that is the only sound she makes.  I have been able to fully identify her, as she keeps coming closer to me each time I see and hear her. SHE is a Northern Harrier Hawk, and very common to my area. And just beautiful and HUGE....I almost thought she was...

Home scale

I did it....didn't think I would, but I did......I went to the Wal-Mart and purchased a home scale. I tried out a couple of them and decided to go with a mid-priced dial scale. All of the digitals didn't seem to scale out well, and I certainly didn't have the patience to learn "the trick" to do it.....so, old fashioned dial it was. I am excited to get on it tomorrow and finally weigh in after several weeks. I am not expecting a huge difference, as my measurements have not improved. I am almost anticipating a "gain" with a different...

Training Success!!....SNOOPY DANCE

Someone had mentioned several months back about a "Couch to 5K" program. Well, today, I started it. For those who don't know, you train for 9 weeks, virtually starting from the couch to jogging/running a full 5K.  So, today I completed WEEK 1 DAY 1 of the training........Snoopy, where are you?? And to top it all off, my hubby went with me. He really turned out to be a great motivator. Not sure what finally kicked him to my side of the fence, but I am sure glad that he got here (.......not sure if I wanted to change that part...

Blackberries

Is eating healthy expensive?? Depends....I live in an area where blackberries grown abundantly in Western Washington backyards....you can even move to get rid of them....they are there too. But, they are free to pick them! And yesterday, my guys and I went out with a bucket and loppers. We got about 10 cups worth. Most went into the freezer, but a small bowl went into the fridge. This morning we had fresh blackberries on our oatmeal!! Apples will be ready soon, and those are in most people's back yards. Gotta watch Craig's List for them! Buying leaner meats can be...
