Day8 A little about me...

I keep forgetting to add my salads in the list, which I eat daily. Everything I eat is primarily loaded with veggies: spinach, broccoli, ect. I limit higher carb veggies such as carrots. My calories usually include light dressing/measured to the serving.      Since I am completely out of the shopping picture now because my right knee no longer supports my weight to walk (I refuse to ride an electric cart.)My husband does our shopping he does his best, but he does have 6 kids (only 1 has a problem such as I with weight) nagging him...there is already...

Day 7

Hi everyone: Just a quick report to keep me honest and responsible for the day. 1220 calories consumed today Just couldn't leave the cookies alone . cookies:300          5 chicken fingers240      1c milk 100      9 in. of Subway roasted chicken 540 Really, really, gotta learn to just forgo the cookies. Keep Hanging in there!

Day 6

Maybe broccoli is the magic food! I just ate my fill to the point of stuffed, and spent 309 calories, all because of this wonderfully, healthy, green veggie. Which makes me wonder.  I have heard so often from dieticians, and "professionals" , that to eat too few calories would stop your metabolism. I struggle with buying into that. I have a gut feeling that if I ate the necessary, lean protein and added only broccoli (similiar veggies)to fill me up the rest of the day-maybe dairy (making it around 700ish cals a day) it would benefit my weight loss--not hinder it.  As...

Day 5

One thing I'm learning while counting calories, is that it's easier to for-go the mayo/caloric dressings than to count them and be hungry later! Not to mention, who needs any xtra fat! Tomorrow my son has talked me into going back to the gym. The only thing that bums me out about going are the limitations on my activities right now. I'm feeling a little frustrated as well. Major knee pain, probably because I can't stay off it the way the doctor wants me to. Ice is a major helper, but the results are so short lived. I've been averaging 1...

Day 4

Today I spent 1171 calories, almost 300 under. I wasn't really trying to go under my goal calories, it just happened that way, and I've been comfortable with it today. My calories consisted of: 1 slice Caesars Sausage Pizza (a whopping 270 cals!) 4 oz chicken, 1 hamburger bun, 4 sweet pickles, 3 small chicken tenders, 4tbs light ranch, salad, and chips ahoys and milk. Over 100oz water. I'm thinking of weighing again Friday. Once again, thanks for everyone here. My seven year old has been counting calories now and I think my husband is sick of hearing me count calories, so it's nice...

A new study shows that for each pound of body weight lost, there is a 4-pound reduction in knee joint stress among overweight and obese people with osteoarthritis of the knee.

A new study shows that for each pound of body weight lost, there is a 4-pound reduction in knee joint stress among overweight and obese people with osteoarthritis of the knee. (http://www.webmd.com/osteoarthritis/news/20050629/small-weight-loss-takes-pressure-off-knee)    Sounds great, but..  that also means that for each pound of body weight you carry, there is four pounds of xtra stress on the knees  . Be careful with the exercise you choose. If choosing jumping, running, or high impact exercise, you can eat through your knee cartiliage like it's candy.

YAY I lost already!

I am so jazzed. I went back to the doctors today and found that I have lost three pounds in the last four days. I think it is absolutely wonderful! I've gained and lost weight so often in my life, that I understand fully that this will not like be the usual scenario for me. It is a great way to start though. There is nothing worse or more discouraging than dieting and struggling to stick to a plan, only to have no loss or..grrrr gain! Right now I feel MOTIVATED! Thanks to everyone here that I have already met with and...

Good day for me so far. January 24, 2010

I'm still learning this site and not always sure about responding to comments on my wall. I don't know if they will be able to see the comment on their wall, if I wrote it in response to a comment they made on my wall.So for some of you that have commented, I probably have tried to respondI just don't know what I am doing! Yesterday wasn't as bad as I originally thought it was. I didn't go 200 cals over ony 65!  ( I wouldn't have been over at all if I hadn't eaten the two oreas and stick of...

Halfway through the first day at WLB.

Doing pretty good so far today. Sticking to the nutrition part pretty good today. 1/2 muffin, fruit, and 1 small sandwich between breakfast and lunch. 32 oz of water so far. Temptations seems always present though, especially when you are at a Pinewood Derby with Cub Scouts for two hours! The worst time of temptation for me though, is between 9-10 pm. I am feeling pretty optimistic about trying this program. I already have gotten two others (one is my teenage daughter!) to sign up with me!

Maybe I should have waited.

I just joined this site. I am thinking that maybe it wasn't the best day to do it since I just received a cortisone shot in my knee today. It really puts a crimp in the exercise for at least a week. I guess I could start this week by just working on inputting and watching my diet. That gives me that much time to learn this site before I'm allowed back into the pool.
