Bread Free Zone

This week, I ate the equivalence of 10 loaves of white bread.

That may be an exaggeration, but not by much.

Do you ever get that feeling, after you've eaten a lot of bread, or bready things, like your belly is an extension of your body that you just have to carry around all the time? Well, for a whole week, I have felt like that and I can't remember the last time I have felt this way-especially about bread.

Bread is, by far, one of my favorite things, and I don't mean in its sliced, toast form. I mean bagels, crackers, rolls, pitas and just about any other funky bread sub-group you can think of. But I haven't just eaten a lot of "bread" this week. I've eaten danishes, donuts, cake, soda bread, pizza, pasta-you name it, I ate it. So much for my challenge :(

But wait, Ariana-now its Passover. You CAN'T eat bread!

Yea right. Within the first 24 hours of Passover, I devoured nearly two whole boxes of matzah and nearly cleaned my mother's house of her passover foods.

So starting tomorrow (because you always have to allow yourself one last meal of the thing you're giving up) I am going to attempt to temporarily give up bread. I'm not going to lie, there is no way I could give it up forever-I'd especially miss pasta too much. But until I no longer feel like I'm carrying a 20 lb. goblin in front of me when I walk, sleep and shower I am ending my relationship with bread, and its little friends.

Now, I want to make it clear that I'm not giving up carbs. I have never given up carbs and, in fact, don't believe in it. I think that carbs give me a good source of temporary energy-and sometimes they're a quick fix, somewhat inexpensive and easily accessible. I will still eat lots of veggies, granola bars, and juices that are low in sugar but still have carbs. But as for me and bread, we're breaking up tomorrow.

As for my progress, I should (I hope) be able to notice it by looking down at my belly. But since you can't see my belly, you can monitor the sucess of my anti-bread by watching my weight tracker on my booster page ;)
