It's not every day I follow a tip from Cosmo, but this one made a little bit of sense.
According to the May 2009 issue (not exactly sure what page) you can amp up your workout by drinking a cup of coffee an hour before working out. If you drink it black, it's only 5 calories and if you drink it with a little bit of skim milk it's about 11.
The caffeine will jump start your body and increase performance during your workout, Cosmo says.
Personally, I don't think I would necessarily try the coffee with milk before a workout because the thought of dairy before working out kind of skeeves me, but I have tried drinking an energy drink an hour before working out and the effects, I'm sure are about the same.
But I will warn you: drinking these highly caffeinated drinks before doing a high-power workout can work your heart really hard. If you feel like your heart is on overdrive after drinking them and working out, then slow down your workout and consider not drinking them before your next workout.
