I like this quote, because I think many of us forget this when we're trying to lose weight. Sometimes, we get infatuated by what the scale tells us, instead of the progress we've made, though the numbers can be used to lead us in the right direction.
I got it from this article, which I linked to on our Twitter page this morning:
http://tinyurl.com/ldjd7o
The article is about what you do when your work outs aren't working out. This can happen when your body becomes too familiar, and in fact immune, to your workout routine and your weight begins to plateu. They say it is easier to lose weight when you've got more weight to lose, but what happens after you've hit that plateu and you're not yet at the point where you want to be?
The author of this article says there are three things that contribute to weight loss that lasts:
"A no brainer formula for lasting weight loss. Hold on to your seat, because this may shock you; my magic weight loss formula involves three components: Resistance training, Cardiovascular exercise and sustainable nutrition choices," she says.
Even as you are doing these things though, your body can have a tendency to get used to what you are eating/the way you are exercising, if you do the same thing routinely for a while (though, routines can be influential in the start up of your weight loss if you are disciplined enough to stick to it).
So, the author suggests you switch it up every now and then-tweak your routine to tweak your body.
