Acceptance or Excuses?

This may very well be the greatest lie a group of people has ever told to themselves or other people, but apparently, there is a movement out there where people who once struggled with their weight loss are now "embracing" their non-weight loss and encouraging behaviors that make them gain weight.

I tweeted this link from the New York Times earlier today: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/16/health/nutrition/16skin.html?_r=1

Basically, after years of following diets and regulating what they ate, these people, as advised by their therapists, gave up trying to lose weight and ate everything and did everything they would not do while trying to lose weight.

While the airy lifestyle of not caring or worrying about losing weight at all times does seem like somewhat of a vacation, I cannot see how it would even be possible to one day wake up and not only not care, but the extreme opposite.

I wonder whether these people will decide, when they are heavier, that this was not the right choice for them? But, at the same time, perhaps it is the right choice because they were able to free their minds of the constant worry about their weight.

What do you think? Is embracing your weight mere acceptance, or just an excuse for those who are tired of trying?

Be Your Bikini-best!

I'm pretty confident in saying I think I'm not the only one who HATES bikini season.

Whether you're in a luxury bathing suit store or Target, you can try on a dozen bathing suits and even if you leave with one or two, you leave a little sadder at what you saw in the mirror.

For those who don't experience this every year, good for you! Hopefully someday I, myself, will be at that point. But for now, bathing suit shopping is on the top of my not-fun list.

To make it a little easier on myself, and hopefully yourself, I've researched some tips for bathing suits that would look better on my body. Wearing the right bathing suit for your body can truly make all the difference. Here are a few I found

-If you're heavier on the bottom, you can take the attention away from your legs by wearing a tankini (a two-piece bathing suit with a longer top). The tankini does not always shape your body so it should help the look.

-A tankini is also good if you want to hide your stomach.

-If you are bigger in the breast area, try not to wear a bikini top with small straps that you will fall out of. Consider either thicker straps, or a one-piece.

-If your behind is something you want to hide, try a two-piece with a skirt bottom. Some of them are pretty cute and they come in a variety, some more ruffley and some just straight.

-The ultimate hide-it-all is a cover up, which tend to come a little skimpy themselves. But I found a pretty cute one at target and I know I have seen some longer ones. Also, try a sarong to cover your legs if you'd like.
