Biggest Loser Recap: Episode 7

SPOILER ALERT: If you didn’t watch last night’s episode, reading ahead will tell you who got sent home.

Whew, last night was intense.

I want to start with the  first challenge. I think Allen had a bit of advantage, being a firefighter, and knew how to shimmy under that rod really well. I was sweating a little bit when a contestant from either team would do less than 100, feeling bad for the contestants who came after them because they would have to carry the load for the team. Overall, I think many of the contestants tried to be pretty fair except for whoever went first on the Black team-I don’t remember who it was.

The second challenge didn’t excite me too much, except for the fact that Derek Jeter was talking to the contestants on a screen. I think next time, the show’s producers should consider having the celebrity actually come on the show-would have made it all more convincing.

Let’s skip ahead to the gym.

I did feel bad for Amanda during her breakdown. As I’m sure we all know, losing weight is hard enough without a bunch of cameras on our faces. I really can’t imagine the pressure of the tv people around all the time. BUT at the same time, she did sign up for the show and know what she was getting herself into. I’m sure that this was just a hiccup for Amanda and that she will do well in the future.

Now, here’s what really got me about last night’s episode. Why was Jillian all up in everyone’s faces at the gym? Abby was doing just fine at that rowing machine before Jillian got in her face and said (as if she cared), “What’s it like to lose everything you’ve ever loved?”

First, WHO SAYS THAT! Especially knowing that Abby’s entire reason for being there is hoping to overcome the terrible thing that happened to her family.

Then, Jillian decides to interrupt Shay’s workout to say something like, “What’s it like to watch your mother shooting up in front of you all the time?”  What is wrong with her?????

I understand that she wants them to get their emotions out so that they can move on and focus on themselves and allow themselves to love themselves again (whew, that’s a lot of themselves). But really now, they were working hard mid-workout. And I don’t see any of them thanking Jillian for making them cry in the gym.

In the end, I was sad to see Abby go. AND I don’t think she should have gone. For the second week in a row, I really felt that Daniel’s time has come. He’s not progressing and if anything he’s digressing. I don’t believe when the contestants all say that he needs to be there because he’s having a hard time it’s true. He’s having a hard time because he’s probably either plateaued or is sneaking twinkies behind the scenes.

He’s had his chance last season, I think it’s time for him to go.

I will say that clearly Abby has done well for herself at home though-she looked HOT! And I’m glad to see it. P.S. the montage of her family made me cry for 20 minutes straight.

Two more people I was happy for at the end of the show were Danny and Rudy. Danny, while I don’t think he’s my favorite because he’s always crying on the show, is doing well finally and he’s lost nearly 100 lbs. in less than 8 weeks. Rudy DID lose over 100 lbs. in 7 weeks which is awesome.
