Biggest Loser Recap: Season 9 Episode 1

Spoiler Alert: If you read to the end, you will know who goes home.

I do have to say, for some reason, I wasn't as excited about this season as I was the last season. I don't know if it's because most of the contestants are older than I am and I don't have a lot I can relate to in their lives. Or maybe I just haven't given them a fair shot yet.

Let's start with their challenge: to ride a marathon on a bike split up by each teammate (couples). I was sitting on my couch wondering what would be harder-to run a marathon or bike it. Then it occurred to me, they don't have to bike a marathon. They have to bike half a marathon because their partners are biking the other half! So in a way, they have it a little easier, I think, than seasons past. But still, biking over 13 miles each is pretty intense.

I did feel pretty bad for O'Neal and Sunshine when they were sent home (moreso than the Blue team), but was excited that they get this extra little mini challenge to lose weight at home and get back on the show. I bet whichever team loses is going to be pretty down that they got the boot from the show twice.

Some of my favorite parts of the show are when Jillian gets up in everyone's faces and makes them cry-that and the completely blatant advertising. This week, Jillian was all up in Cheryl's grill, looming like a monkey on the treadmill next to her.

As for the weigh-ins, I almost think there is something suspicious about the amounts of weight these people lost. Several of the contestants, including Darrell who lost 30 lbs, lost over 20 lbs., which I think is pretty extreme for one week. But they all pulled in pretty high numbers-I don't think anyone lost single digits. Am I the only one who thinks that's completely insane? If it is real, power to them.

It was a tough decision in the end with the twins being up for elimination, forcing the contestants to choose between one twin with a bad knee and one without.

So far, I do really like Miggy and Michael-I think they will end up my favorites. For now, I'm pretty impartial about the others.
