The newsie in me always wants to look up the answers to everything.
But Google can't tell me what to dinner (well, technically it can if you Google "What should I eat for dinner") when I'm out at a social event and want to stick to my diet. So instead, I'll ask you guys for some advice.
Take for example tonight. Tonight I was at a chamber mixer, in a crowded room filled with networkers, alcohol and unhealthy food.
Last week I started the South Beach diet, and for any of you who have done the South Beach diet, you guys know that for the first two weeks you are not supposed to have bread, pasta, rice, fruit, potatos, carrots, and most certainly not alcohol.
I went straight to this mixer from work, with a rumbling growling belly on, so needless to say by the time I got there I was so hungry, I would eat almost anything-but I didn't want to. So far, in a week and a half, I have lost 4 lbs, and all without exercise so far as my cold has prevented me from going to the gym. And here, in front of me, was crudite with Ranch dressing, a fruit platter, a taco dip, pizza and fried chicken.
Like I said, not the healthiest options.
The healthy options would have been the crudite (without the ranch) and the fruit. But I can't eat fruit yet on my diet, and was really craving some hot food.
So, I ended up eating a (little) piece of pizza. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to have pizza just as much as I'm not supposed to have fruit-but let's face it, if you're going to cheat a little, it may as well be worth it right?
So my question for you guys is this: What do you do when you're at a social event and all the naughty foods are calling your name?
