Biggest Loser Recap: Season 9 Episode 4

Spoiler Alert: If you read to the end, you will know who went home on this episode of the Biggest Loser.

In my opinion, this episode is an example of hype advertising. I was expecting this huge blowout between Melissa and Jillian and Lance and Jillian, but that's not really what we saw.

Sure, there were some tiffs with Jillian, and some hatin' from Miggy and Migdalia aimed at Melissa, but it wasn't what I was looking forward to watching all week.

Last week I complained about the irrelevance of the Ribbon Challenge-I thought this week's challenges were EXCELLENT in comparison. The first challenge, where the contestants had to walk a mile, retrieve a card that would either register a check or an x without knowing until they get back, was very clever. I know I wauld be extremely frustrated if I kept checking in x's. Of course, the red team walked away with victory.

The next challenge was absolutely terrifying (I'm afraid of heights) when the contestants had to pull themselves to the top of a scaffolding.

This week's LCW was kind of cool how the contestants had to run around a mountain and carry heavy rocks outside. I like how they showed us this because it reminds us that exercise cannot only be done at the gym. Not that I personally have baby boulders around to carry, but it would be a unique way to work out.

It did look very hard to push the other contestants in the wheel barrows! Especially up those hills!

As for the weigh-ins, I don't have much to say about anyone's individual weigh-in, except for a few. I was very proud of Daris for reaching his under-300-mark, as well as for Michael for losing 70 lbs. in 4 weeks (still don't believe it---they just want a contestant to reach a new record every system).

Miggy and Migdalia's weigh-in was obviously the most interesting of the night. They pulled in pretty awful numbers compared to the others (which I feel funny saying considering every weight lost is great). They were extremely bitter about Melissa's and the Red Team's decision to issue them a 2-lbs. disadvantage at the weigh in, and in the end, according to Jillian, their bitterness showed.

Migdalia begged the group to send her home instead of her mom, but instead of explaining that she thought her mom needed to stay more than her, she kept saying, "I want to go home," instead. She clearly needed to stay on the ranch longer considering when she got home she gained 10 lbs. She seems to have gotten back on track, but I do hope the rest of the group made the right decision in sending her home.

Next week should be interesting when the other teams that went home on Week 1 come back for a second chance to get back on the show!
