Do workout videos work out?

Lately I've been thinking about trying out a workout DVD. I've never really believed much in home-workouts. For me, I don't think I could possibly burn as many calories in my living room as I can at the gym.

I know many of you could probably prove me wrong on that one though.

Still, as I am committed to dropping some weight, I'll try about anything that's easy, quick, and rewarding.

One that I'm considering doing and have heard a lot of reviews about is Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred (if anyone of you are doing/have done/want to do the Shred and know more about it, PLEASE share your thoughts). According to the product's excellent advertising, the Shred is a high-powered mix of aerobic exercise and strength training and its users have lost up to 20 lbs. in 30 days on it.

If the Shred is anything like the way Jillian Michaels is on the Biggest Loser then I highly doubt this DVD is easy (but hey, losing weight ISN'T easy, right?)

Do YOU know of any workout DVDs that really work out, or even some that don't? Please share your experiences, so we can all find ones we like!

Biggest Loser Recap!

SPOILER ALERT: If you read to the end, you will know who went home on this week's episode.

While this week's episode was not much of a nail-biter the challenge certainly was interesting.

The contestants were forced to build a ladder using wooden blocks in whatever style they would like to take them up to another ladder that they would have to climb to reach their respective flag.

The block-building part didn't seem too difficult, but for me, the height of what they were climbing was pretty intense! Year after year, when the contestants are faced with these challenges, I'm amazed at their bravery. I would never be able to climb these things or pull myself across a tightrope high in the sky. I really don't know how they do it.

The first one to the top received a one lb. advantage at the weigh in while the person who came in last had a one lb. disadvantage.

Ashley was pretty scared at first, but she got her butt up there and finished with the rest of them. Darus reached the top before the others, and I was pretty glad because this was the first challenge he has won.

The weigh in was pretty uneventful, until the end, when Victoria only lost a single lb. She was disappointed and let that show on the stage. Even more disappointed was Sunshine, who also only lost a single lb.

Sunshine blamed her low number on the stress of her father falling (By the way, O'Neal was fine, he made it back with a brace, with no permanent damage).

Koli was the only person who had the power to vote a person off and he had to choose between Sunshine and Victoria. In the end, he chose Victoria, saying she hasn't been pushing herself hard enough and that she must give it her all to achieve the results she would like to see. Victoria disagreed with Koli and said she has been giving it her all.

What did YOU think about this week's episode?

On the way climbing down from the ladder, O'Neal fell (pretty hard it seemed) on his back, hurting his knee. Sunshine rushed over, very upset to see if he was okay.
