SPOILER ALERT: If you read to the end of this post, you will know who went home on this week’s BL.
Man, last night’s episode was a tearjerker!
What got me the most was the inspiration spewing from the contestants on to the people they met while on a health-conscious tour of Texas.
For those who missed it, last night’s episode was all about the contestants visiting Texas-the most obese state in the United States.
The contestants started out on local radio stations, talking to callers and giving advice to the state-at-large about how important it is to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Later in Texas, the contestants got to meet some Biggest Loser fans at the Cotton Bowl where they would have the opportunity to run a 5k with them. The fans were separated into groups wearing colors of the contestants, and the contestants were responsible for making sure their groups completed the 5k.
A lot of the fans talked to the camera (and the contestants) about their constant struggle with weight loss. A lot of their stories were touching. The two that got me the most were the lady in grey (can’t remember her name) who had bad knees and was concerned she would not be able to finish the 5k, and Jeff, a man wearing a yellow shirt that had never walked this much in his life. I believe it was Koli who coached them both to the end.
O’Neal was very encouraging to all of his group and wanted to make sure everyone finished. They all did.
After that, the contestants participated in a challenge. They had to heard cattle into pens, which apparently is harder than one would think.
It was hard keeping up with the workouts while away from the ranch, so Darus, Ashley and Michael decided to create their own workout by climbing 33 flights of stairs. They didn't want to share their workout with Sam and Koli or O'Neal and Sunshine because they felt that they had an advantage being part of a team.
In this episode, Jillian met up with last season's contestant, Abbie, to go to a high school with her and talk about obesity. One brave teenager stood up in the crowd and talked about how she's always been told that she will never be thin and pretty. Jillian met with the girl after to tell her that she can be thinner and she can do everything she puts her mind to.
The weigh ins are not really impressing me that much, but one who did impress me this week was Sam. Somehow, even though he's packed on so much muscle, he managed to lose 6 lbs. this week.
In the end, it was O'Neal's time to go, with an emotional ending to the full yellow team being on the ranch.
