I consider myself somewhat of a gossip.
I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing, just "information sharing." But according to some research, gossip can actually hold you back from reaching your weight loss goals.
The concept is this: when you act and share negative, judgmental feelings you are holding extra baggage and the negative feelings spill over into other areas of your life, including in weight loss. Scientifically, the reason this happens is because when a person has negative, stressful feelings, according to the research, the person's immune system weakens and their body does not respond as well to the weight loss. Once you stop the negative feelings, your body is more relaxed and able to drop the weight.
This doesn't apply only to the action of learning and repeating negative tales about your best friend. In order to lose weight you also need to stop wallowing about how sad you are that you are overweight and change your mental thought process to instead feel positive about how successful you will be at losing weight.
Also to note is the stressĀ that comes with planning on losing weight. and the negative feelings of not being able to do it. Once you allow yourself to let it happen mentally, it will help it happen physically.
