50 Cent's Astounding Weight Loss-and My Thoughts on Actors Losing Weight for Roles

This week, photos of 50 Cent, a well-known rapper, circulated on the Internet. The photos depict the rapper nearly 50 lbs. less than he has ever been seen before, with dark circles under his eyes as he prepares for a role portraying a cancer patient.

50, also known as Curtis Jackson, reportedly went from 214 lbs. to 160. Jackson said he lost the weight so quickly by going on an all liquid diet and working out several hours a day

This isn't the first time an actor has dropped some serious lbs. for a role in a film-have any of you seen Christian Bale in The Machinist? WOW.

What disturbs me is this: many of us spend a great deal of time worrying about our weight and how to lose it. And then these actors drop the pounds in an unreasonable way to play a role in a movie. Granted, people go pretty far their professions by being dedicated.

But to me, weight loss is a serious life change-one that requires dedication to weight loss itself, and I think it's a little silly
that these actors must lose the weight so quickly in such unhealthy ways.

Here is an article with some of the 50 Cent pics. What do YOU think?

I saw that picture and I was totally shocked. When celebrities lose weight at all, it's big news. Cuz most of the country is out there fighting the battle of the buldge and many of these celebrities seem to lose weight effortlessly. Maybe it's because of the nature of their jobs, or maybe because they can affort personal trainers, etc. But they do seem to give the rest of America an unrealistic view on weight.

Totally shocking yes I agree with you both, for the rest of us average people...it is not the norm! We need to do this as a realistic lifestyle change! There is no quick fix..and most of us are not paid to look good for our professions! Wow though..wish I was..what an incentive!! LOL!! These actors and actresses get paid to look fabulous..huge dollars per role! They can also afford personal trainers!

To those of them who have all the money in the world and still cannot fight the battle of the bulge...maybe they have my emotional eating issues? For that the best way to get help is through seeing a weight loss doctor and signing up for Weight Watchers, and of course, joining a site like this.

I just read a magazine yesterday that said Jennifer Anniston gets her amazing body through two hours a day of yoga! Most of us do not have two hours a day to take off and exercise! However..you have to give her credit for not running to a plastic surgeon to fix her flaws and for doing all the hard work herself.

I wish I can find this clip of Raquel Welch. She was being interviewed by some talk show host..I cannot recall which one. The guy was going on and on about how incredible she looked for her age..I think she is 70?..or over? Anyway..she kept cutting him off and saying "I am paid to look this way. It is in my contract!". The talk show host forged ahead despite her obvious protests that he not unknowingly offend any of his less fit fan base , determined to use her as a role model of "If this lady at her age can do it..so can anyone!!". He said something to the effect of.."What do you do to keep looking so young?" She replied with "I am up everyday at 5am to go to my Yoga class...."..and again..he lavished praise on how dedicated she is to her youthfull appearance of ladies more than half her age..which she in turn promptly put him in his place so he wouldn't offend anyone else and said "Yeah...I am paid to do this. This is why I look this way. This is an image I have to keep. Nothing more".

Which, brings me do Udochi's point of view...with so many of us in America, and elsewhere, looking up to actors, actresses, and other entertainment professionals as ideals on how we should look and keep our bodies, it gives a very unrealistic and unattainable goal to reach. I read another blog earlier that made so much more sense. It was of a young lady who just wanted to be then to be healthy. I think this should all be the attitude we have! I too am guilty of doing it for the wrong reasons..where my only reason should be for the internal health...not how great will my skinny jeans look!
