She's at it Again

The NJ lady who's trying to beat the world record to become the fattest woman in the world is back in the news,

I have blogged about Donna Simpson before as her story is a popular one in the world of weight loss right now. Simpson currently weighs 600 lbs. and is a mother of two. Her only purpose in reaching this goal is to beat the world record and be known for gaining a tremendous amount of weight.

Simpson has publicly said she hopes to gain a reality television show out of all the publicity she has gained throughout her quest. She's also apparently received several book offers.

In the past, I have called this situation offensive and disturbing-here we all are, trying our hardest to lose weight and improve our lifestyles, while this woman is trying to gain weight just for publicity.

My opinion has not changed since then, but as the story unfolds, I'm curious to know how all of YOU feel? What are your thoughts on Donna Simpson and her quest to become the fattest woman in the world?

Here is a recent article about Donna in case you have not yet read the story.

Losing it With Your iPhone

My boss recently approached me to show me his new ticket to weight loss: an app on his iPhone.

The app, appropriately called "Lose it" allows you to keep a log of your full calorie intake for days at a time while also telling you how many calories you should be consuming and burning each day. You can set goals for how much you want to lose in the app also.

There is also a place in the app where you enter your exercise for that day. What is most interesting about the app is that it finds the non-conventional foods and exercises for you to enter.

Let's face it. We're not always going to eat non-brand fruits and vegetables and that's it. Sometimes we want to eat a FiberOne, or a Dunkin Donuts flatbread sandwich. The app actually knows the brand names and how many calories are in each.

For exercise, you may go for a hike instead of going to the gym. Or maybe you walked to the grocery store and back. The app can calculate how many calories you likely burned in these activities.

If you do not have an iPhone, you will not be able to download the actual "Lose It" app. However, if you do have a BlackBerry and do a quick search for "Lose It app for Blackberry" you can find some suggestions for alternatives.

Do any of YOU use the Lose It app? Has it helped you lose any weight so far?
