What Do Biggest Losers Eat?

You've seen some of the crazy things contestants on NBC's hit show The Biggest Loser do to loseweight.

They go through obstacle courses, run marathons and spend endless hours working every drop of sweat out of themselves to drop sometimes over 100-lb. by the season's finale only a few short months after they begin their weight loss journey.

But the part that is not shown on camera is what we want to know the most-what are these contestants EATING to drop so much weight?

Health and Fitness Times decided to share this little slice of information with us, documenting a few quick need-to-know facts about the diet the Biggest Loser contestants are on during the show.

Probably the most obvious thing you would need to know is that the diet they are on is a very low-calorie consumption diet. The less calories they consume, the less calories they have to burn at the gym, and the more fat that is actually burned from their bodies.

The most basic explanation of the diet is in a four-phase plan, or the "4-3-2-1 plan" as the article describes. What it is is this:

4 servings per day of fruit and veggies; 3 of low-fat protein;  2 of whole grains and 1 "extra."This 4-3-2-1 plan was developed by Tufts University Overweight Specialist Dr. Michael Dansinger and so far has seemed to make miracles happen (along with exercise) for the Biggest Loser contestants.

Check out the article for more details about the Biggest Loser plan and how you can follow a similar track toward your own mega-or minor- weight loss goals!
