Are Losing Weight and Being Healthy Equal?

When we think of weight loss, we often associate it with being healthy. But being healthy does not necessarily mean being thin.

Not being overweight does mean being healthier, but some people are not overweight, but not thin and still perfectly healthy.

The concept of thin being healthy is one that is constantly around us and being told to us. Society has connected the two and it's hard to think about one without the other now. But how did we begin to think that being thinner means being healthy?

One reason I know I associate weight loss with being healthier is because I have a tendency to think thinner people eat healthier foods. I don't know why I think this-I've certainly seen thin people eat non-healthy foods. But I guess since I know how fast the pounds came back when I was thinner, I tend to think they must overall eat healthier to not get fatter.

Now that I actually write that down, I realize it might be a little silly. So, I wonder, is being thinner being healthier?

This blog says that intentional excessive weight loss is actually unhealthy since you are pushing your body faster to lose the weight in a way that might not be natural to your own body.

The most healthy form of weight loss, of course, is by changing your lifestyle to reflect a more healthy and active one. From there the weight is bound to come off.
