How Some Are Losing Weight With Their Cell Phones

Over the past month, I've been heavily interested in people who have found success losing weight using nothing but their cell phones. Well, maybe not nothing but their cell phones, but using their cell phones to help guide them with their weight loss goals.

They do this through "apps" or applications which are downloadable to certain smartphones.

One of the most popular I've heard of for the iPhone, and one that I personally know someone who has so far lost about 36 lbs. in less than two months using it, is LoseIt. With this app, you enter the items you are eating for each meal and it keeps track of the calories in every single item, subtracting from your "daily budget" which it calculates for you based on your height, weight, age, etc.

The only way it works still is if you enter every single last thing you eat.

Other apps do exist for BlackBerrys and other smartphones, but what I was really wondering was if these apps are actually working for people-and they do seem to be working.

Here is a NY Times article about how some people are using their cell phones to lose weight.

What about YOU? Have you had any success losing weight with help from your cell phone?
