How Many Calories Should You be Eating?

When we're dieting, trying to watch your weight or trying to lose weight, we're typically trying to eat as few calories as possible so that we can drop the pounds. But while we're often trying to eat less calories to lose weight, we often forget that we are supposed to eat a certain number of them to be able to burn the calories and be successful in our workouts.

Dr. Martica Heaner says, in this article, there's no exact number that each person should be guided by and that while every body is different, the best we can do is guess how many calories we should be eating based on our own individual body types.

Several factors, mostly including our BMI, determine how many calories we should be eating. But according to Dr. Heaner, there are ways to tell if you are eating enough calories. For example, if you feel overwhelmingly hungry immediately a workout, you most likely are not eating enough and your body will not be as productive as it could during your workout.

The 10 Craziest Diets Ever

I left my last post up a little longer than usual because I thought many buddies would have found the topic of interest-and they did. One of the most interesting things about weight loss is that no matter who you are or where you are, you can usually relate to someone else who's trying to lose weight and some of the methods they are trying.

Sometimes, we can relate, that is. Sometimes we cannot.

I decided to do a little research and find the 10 craziest diets in history-the diets that might not make sense to you and me, but did make sense at one point to someone else.

Topping the list in this article is the "Chewing Diet"- a diet where people chewed each bite of their food 32 times!! Talk about a sore jaw! Horace Fletcher, the man who invented the diet, claimed he lose 40 lbs. in only four months by swearing by this chewing method every time he ate a meal.

Another diet, often joked about but disgusting in nature, is the tapeworm diet, where a person would eat a tapeworm which would, in essence, consume the food the person consumed from inside their stomach.

Another diet, appropriately labeled the Sleeping Beauty Diet, was based on the premise that if you are asleep, you cannot possibly eat. So people would sedate themselves for days and weeks to stop from eating.
