Fat and Fat

There are three ingredients I look at closely when grocery shopping: calories, carbohydrates and fat.

But even though I take notice of the fat in the foods I purchase, I'm not really sure what it means. What I mean is, I know that the fewer calories we eat, the better our chance of burning them and therefore not gain more weight. I know that carbs take a longer time to burn and go straight to my hips. But as for fat, I don't know much of anything about it.

For instance, I didn't know if eating fat, literally means that you eat the kind of fat that you put on when you gain weight.

Apparently, it can.

According to Dr. Martica Heaner in this article, eating too much fat can make you fat. The problem is, fat and fatty foods often taste good and we are more prone to crave them. Not all fat is created equal though-the good fats, or unsaturated fats, are found in vegetable oils, avocados and olives, and bad fats, or saturated fats, are in meat, butter and full cheese and milk.

You have to follow a careful balancing act to be able to eat both kinds of fats, because if you do eat either the good or the bad too much, you can get fat-ter.

I'm assuming you work for WLB? If not, it seems like you know quite a bit. Can you please give some advice on how to balance low fat w/ carb intake?
I prefer eating low fat but I know you shouldn't eat carbs in the evening. I know carbs are good to take in before you work out...for energy.
I would like to try to balance the proper amount of carbs and low fat items to make a healthy diet. I just can't seem to make the 2 work together. It's like they're opposite. Any suggestions?
