Biggest Loser Recap: Episode 3

Choices, choices, choices. First, WOW on the cupcake challenge. I’ve talked to some people that have said that cupcake challenge has been done, or at least a challenge with cupcakes, before in some capacity on the show. But man, oh man, I don’t have any idea what I would do if 10 cupcakes were put in my face and I had to not eat them. Let’s back up a little though. Tracey, Tracey. Tracey is beginning to really show her weakness as a person this week, and in my opinion, she’s more out to win a game than to win a healthy...

Should schools decide how healthy your kids eat?

With obesity on the rise, many schools are conforming to state standards that have outline more strenuous physical fitness and healthier food options in schools. Essentially, schools have begun actively swapping out fruit snacks for real fruit and chips for fresh cut veggie chips. But while the goal of these programs are to make students healthier, some argue that perhaps government is becoming too involved in people's lives. Perhaps it is up to parents to educate their students about which foods are healthy and which are not instead of forcing their students to only eat one way. Here is an article that talks...

The Bodybugg

When I first started reading headlines about the Bodybugg, I guess I didn't really understand the concept. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. But as I've been watching The Biggest Loser and learning more about it, it is now on my Top 10 Wants list. As in, I want it really bad. Problem is, it's seemingly expensive, and I'm not sure if it's worth the cost. First, for those who do not know what it is, it is a small device that you wear on your arm during the day (can you wear it at night if you want to?) and you...

Would you feel more comfortable in a "Judgment Free" gym?

These days, it's all about what other people think. It's unfortunate, but more often than not, people are motivated in what they do in their lives by what they predict other people will think about it. What we wear, what we eat, where we eat, where we shop-the list goes on and on. Don't worry. It's not like I'm writing this post to preach about something I'm not going to admit I do myself. I would say a great deal of what I do in my life is influenced by what I think people will think if I do or say it....

Biggest Loser Recap: Episode 2

In my opinion, last night’s episode was not as thrilling as last week’s. But that might be because last week’s was the first week, hence ultimate excitement.   I was pretty excited about their challenge, however. Losing 150 lbs. between them was quite a feat and (SPOILER ALERT) I was glad to see that at the end they had done it.   I’m glad that we’re starting to see a littttttttle bit of drama start to heat up. I don’t know about you, but my favorite thing about watching some of these reality shows is the drama that ensues. It seems like Shay has...

Sometimes Weight Loss is Painful

You guys aren't going to believe this. A new cosmetic surgery is being done (in California, I believe) where a patch the size of a postage stamp is being sewn on to patients' tongues by plastic surgeons. This procedure is being done because the patch makes it painful and uncomfortable to eat solid food, forcing the patient to only consume only liquid food, causing them to lose weight. Here are a few links for more information about this patch, called the Chugay Tongue Patch: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,26109437-401,00.html http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/features_julieshealthclub/2009/09/lose-weight-with-a-tongue-patch.html What do you think? Is this patch a safe and effective way to lose weight?

PLEASE let me know what you think! I wanted to tell you guys about some of Buddy's new features that you might not know about, as well as some features you might be able to look forward to in the future. Buddy's new features!

Okay, I wanted to tell you guys about some of Buddy's new features that you might not know about, as well as some features you might be able to look forward to in the future. If you haven't yet noticed, one of the major new features is that you no longer have a "Booster Page." Instead, you have a "Profile," which is much like your Facebook profile but BETTER. The Weight Loss Buddy profile you have allows you to do more things than a Facebook profile. For instance, you can see how others view your profile, which I don't believe you can...

The Biggest Loser: Episode 1 recap and thoughts

SPOILER ALERT: This post is about last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you might want to wait to read ahead. Okay, let’s talk about last night. I want to have a weekly re-cap of The Biggest Loser because it is a show that I know many of us watch and LOVE. Like I said last year, I never watched this show EVER until the episode where Mike and his dad were finishing the marathon and everyone went back and helped his dad finish. Cried my eyes out and have been hooked ever since. I’m glad that...

Midnight Snack Attack

I'm a sucker for the midnight snack. I wake up in the middle of the night and crave chocolate, this typically leads me to the kitchen, in which I have no chocolate, so I typically end up snacking on something else-whatever I can find. I know this is terrible, and I know this is not helping me lose weight, but I don't know why. One reason, I was told by my doctor, is that when you lie down, gravity cannot help pull the food down, in the natural digestive way. BUT, I've also been told that you can burn more calories while...

Buddy's New Look!

As I'm sure many of you have noticed by now, Weight Loss Buddy has a new look! You can see it when you log in to your account, like you do if you are going to write a blog post or use all the cool features Buddy has to offer. You may also notice you no longer have a "Booster Page" but instead you have a "Profile." This profile is much like the profile you see on Facebook or MySpace, and it's cool because you have a section where you can respond to eachother's comments, much like a Facebook "Wall" and...

The Cookie Diet!?

If I were brilliant enough, I would come up with a diet that was composed of candy, soda, ice cream and all the little joys in life but in a way that was nutriously filling and healthy. While I haven't come up with this diet, someone has come up with a cookie diet. This cookie diet, also known as Smartforlife, is centered around eating cookies and milkshakes throughout the day leading up to a high protein dinner. The cookies seem to come in delicious traditional flavors, such as chocolate chip, and are most likely enhanced with something that fits the average person's...

Are your jeans a good way to tell how much weight you've lost?

Dark jeans, light jeans, faded jeans, black jeans, white jeans, fat jeans, skinny jeans. The last two on that list are probably the only two most of us care about. They are the jeans we wear when we are feeling fatter, bloated or bigger and the jeans we strive to wear someday. "Skinny jeans" has become a token term these days for a particular style of jeans. To me, it has nothing to do with style. It has to do with where I'm at now and where I ultimately want to be. Skinny jeans mean different things to different people. I know that...

Confessions of a weight-loss-a-holic

Very often lately we see stories and blog posts with headlines that read, "secrets to weight loss." And sometimes, if you're lucky, you can pick up some tips that are actually useful. During my daily browse, I stumbled upon this blog that boasted a weight loss confession. I was instantly intrigued (I know I typically only confess something that I've done wrong and want to come clean about). http://www.experienceproject.com/confessions.php?cid=137862 Unfortunately this wasn't the kind of weight loss confession I was excited to read. The blogger is confessing that she is on prescription Attention Deficit Disorder medication to lose weight that she was...

How to Stay Strong Over the Holiday Weekend

The weekend can be the toughest time for your weight loss goals. Aside from the chaos of not knowing where you will be and what you will be doing, it can be harder to to plan out your meals. But if you make a strong enough effort, you can plan out healthy meals and stick to the plan. Try writing on a sheet of paper Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and in the case of Labor Day weekend, Monday). Break them up into breakfast, lunch and dinner, allowing for two snacks throughout the day-one between breakfast and lunch and the other between...

Does the Cookie Monster Have an Eating Problem?

I can't decide if this article is funny, or simply ridiculous. But it's about whether or not the Cookie Monster is overweight. You read it and tell me what you think? http://www.examiner.com/x-12516-Celebrity-Weight-Loss-Examiner~y2009m9d1-Celebrity-Weight-Loss-101--Is-the-Sesame-Street-Cookie-Monster-a-Food-Addict
