High Intensity In Home Work Outs

What do you think about all the high intensity work outs that are around?  I'm talking about works outs like Jillian Michaels "Get Ripped", "30 Day Shred" or the "Extreme Shed and Shred" work out.  You might think someone was suffering from insanity when it's "The Insanity Workout" they're discussing.  If your buddy is talking about "Tap Out" they're not discussing a new dance routine but the extreme home fitness program Tapout XT.  We started with P90X and we've just grown from there.  If you've ever had...

Multi Vitamins

I think it would be ideal if we could all have ourselves tested to see if we are really deficient in any vitamins.  Most of us follow suggestions from various sources with hopes of warding off disease, improving our health, increasing our energy and adding longevity to our lives.   The idea for some of us is that if vitamins are good for us then more of them would be even better.  I also have been told that the nutritional values found in foods today are not what they once were.  Conventional growing habits in depleted soil contribute to those factors. ...

What To Eat At The Movies

When I go to the movies I usually drink bottled water and once in awhile I'll buy Twizzlers.   The movie theatre's are offering more and more food options and my latest movie experience was even more tempting than usual.  There were tables between every two seats.  My brother purchased a few of the finger food options and placed them on the table between us.  It was very comfortable and convenient to have a table at one's elbow laden with food.  The lights were dimmed but not so much that you couldn't see what you were eating.  As much as we...

Are You Hungry

There is a guideline called a hunger scale that tells you at what point you should allow yourself to eat.  I’m sorry, but I just think this is a little over the top.  I can’t imagine something more stressful.  All I could picture was me thinking I’m hungry then looking at a scale to find out I’m not hungry enough!  Are you kidding me? I’ve read that in today’s society we’ve lost our instinct of knowing when we’re hungry.  I beg to differ.  I believe we just have a poor command of the English language.  Let me state my case. ...

Will Power

Just that phrase gives you a sense of strength.  Will Power!  It's a strong phrase and if you feel that you don't have enough of it, no worries.  Will power is something you can learn and strengthen with time.  It works like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it will become.  You've decided you’re going to lose weight and get fit!  Those are life altering decisions and ones that you haven't made lightly.  You wake up Monday morning more determined than ever.  You eat your healthy breakfast and make it through to lunch.  Your afternoon blahs hit...

Eating Healthy On A Budget part 3

We all want to eat healthy but with the food prices being what they are sometimes we feel that we have to choose between eating healthy and eating on a budget.   I gathered some new tips below that I think will give you some great idea's.  I've tried a few of them myself and they do help.  Eat smaller portions of meat  -  According to the food pyramid and about.com: A serving of meat is about two or three ounces, or about the size of a deck of cards. Serving sizes for other proteins would be two tablespoons of nut butters,...

Have You Tried Any Dr. Oz Advice

If you haven't had the opportunity to watch Dr. Oz have no fear he's everywhere!  He has put an amazing amount of information out there.   He tweets, pinterest's in addition to his own website and his earlier site Real Age.  He is looking fit and pretty darn good for 52.  He's full of energy and passion for his subjects.   I'm impressed with his openness and willingness to approach subjects that are touchy.  If there is anything someone can complain about it would be information overload.  When you have so much information regarding the same or similar topics it's not easy...

Fat Belly Diets

Has it been years since you've turned sideways while looking in a mirror?  Are you pants ill-fitting because what fits in the waist doesn't fit anywhere else?  If so, you’re not alone.  A large part of the population has what some lovingly refer to as a beer belly.  Dr. Pamela Peeke who wrote Body for Life for Women refers to the belly on women as a menopot.  You can also be talking about a wheat belly or a muffin top.  Either way it's pretty awful.  Not only does it steal your self-esteem while looking in the mirror or going clothes...
